Fall Festivals
Other than pumpkin spice lattes, October heralds the beginning of fall festival season here in the Big Bend. The list of craft shows, events, and farm days is extensive, so we did the work for you. Here are the highlights, all of which are wheelchair accessible and packed with spicy fall fun!
Pumpkin Patch Party
Through October 31, 2017 or until the pumpkins run out
Location: Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church
304 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL
With patch events and pumpkin restocks throughout the month, there is plenty to see and do. Saturday, October 21, the patch gets crafty with a Craft Bazaar from 10 am-2 pm. The following Saturday, October 28, is all about the kids! Pumpkins are located outside the church on fairly level grass.
Brewfest Tallahassee
October 28, 2017, 5 pm-8 pm
Location: Automobile Museum
1703 Capital Cir NE, Tallahassee, FL
Tallahassee Sunrise Rotary Club’s annual fundraiser is a beer lover’s dream. General admission tickets ($39) include unlimited samples of over 200+ beers from close to 30 breweries. Food from local food trucks like St. Evers Sausage House, Lasang Pinoy Philippine Cuisine, and the newly launched Tally Mac Shack will be available for an additional fee. Like to plan ahead? A list of the menus can be found on the event website. Plus, we’re big fans of the $10 designated driver tickets.
Monarch Butterfly Festival
October 28, 10 am-4 pm
Location: St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge
1358 Old Woodville Road
Crawfordville, FL 32327
Every year untold amounts of monarch butterflies pass through the Florida panhandle and St. Marks on their migration to central and southern Mexico. This free event offers attendees an up-close (and let’s face it, magical) view of the majestic monarch.
P.S. Keep a lookout for more information about the St. Marks Stone Crab Festival. As we were writing this, times and specifics had not been posted, but what better way to end a day watching butterflies than a crab snack…or many?
German Christmas Market & Beer Garden
November 3, 4 pm-9 pm & November 4, 9 am-1 pm
Location: Senior Center
1400 N. Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL
If you like to get an early start on your holiday shopping, then add this craft fair and beer garden to your calendar. Entry to the arts and crafts is free. After working up a thirst shopping, head outside to the beer garden, open Friday from 5 pm-9 pm, where the celebration of local continues with local DEEP and Lake Tribe breweries. Beer garden tickets are $15 a person. Add live music and Bavarian pretzels to end the evening right!
